Reverside is planning to make a small dent to the ICT skills shortage in SA

October 28, 2016

According to the latest news article on, headlined, “Skills gap strands SA businesses as jobs go unfilled.”  South African businesses are in crisis mode, due to the severe shortages of relevant skills found the current job market. One of the major lacks are found in the IT industry, namely with Java Programmers.

The article also refers to the government’s scarce skills list that contains about 25 pages of scarce skills in South Africa and it includes 37 different kinds of trained workers; Software Developers are on that list.

One of the main reasons why we are currently experiencing this “gap” between businesses (required skills) and graduates (available skills), according to the News24 article, is South Africa’s educational system.  The article supports this theory by making the following statement; “South Africa’s inadequately educated workforce is the third-most problematic factor for doing business in South Africa.”

Another article on InToWeb, South African IT industry, draws a correlation between the rapid growth of the IT industry, considering the amount of people pursuing a career in IT and the shortages of skilled workforce. The article concludes with the following statement; “The demand for IT skills brings IT training into the forefront as the primary way to extend ones opportunities.”

What does this have to do with Reverside, you may ask?
